Capacity Inc Board
Sherry Piersol, Founder & Executive Director, spent two years researching and developing Capacity Inc. The mission is based on her 25 years experience as a social justice advocate, community organizer and educator, in which she placed emphasis on addressing disparities facing women, children and families. "Capacity Inc.'s mission can best be described as "social franchising". Our goal is to take the need to help others and fuse it with networks of people who orchestrate real change into people's lives. We will be replicating best practice solutions to challenges facing the female gender and creating a deep cultural change for the better regarding broad based needs.
Jessica Piersol, Co-founder, Board
Secretary and University of Kentucky Dormitory Office Assistant and Anthropology student, "I have learned about the disparity of the world and am shocked to
discover that the single most abused, poverty-stricken, neglected and
inhumanely treated group of people remains to be women. I know that I am not
alone in the emergence of an insatiable desire to make a difference. My
friends, ages 18 - 28 have expressed reciprocal feelings. We do not want to
be....the generation of video games and apathy. We want change; we want a
better world for our future and our children."
Audra Cryder, Co-founder, Board Treasurer, brings a world of wisdom and passion to the cause. She has lived in various countries and is an International Student Recruiter for the University of Kentucky. Through her travels, she has gained firsthand knowledge regarding the inequities facing the female gender worldwide. "Education and training programs can equip women with skills they need to improve their capacities to start and grow businesses and to fulfill their potential as economic development agents. This, in turn, can generate social and economic benefits "
Soreyda B. Begley, Board Member, Annual Fundraiser Chairperson, is a Fashion Designer and activist. "It is my personal life commitment to create opportunities for women and girls, to help them find and develop their passion and have the life they want and deserve. I have experienced modern day slavery and feel as women we must play a much stronger role in the production/manufacturing system, demanding fair wages and opportunities to individuals by embracing social and personal skills development, as well as entrepreneurship."
Virginia Fairchild, Professor, Kentucky Community Technical College Systems, 20/20 Women of Vision Chairperson, a long time advocate for entrepreneurship, she has pushed the envelope to pave the way for individuals to move their passion into careers. "I can think of no better way to serve women and girls than by teaching and inspiring them to reach their goals, especially through the advancement of best practice models. I certainly hope Universities worldwide will assist us with this worthy cause."
Joann True, Co-owner True Blue Beer Cheese, Urban Market Board Liaison, entrepreneur, proven to be creative and progressive when it comes to business development and community support. After a car accident prevented her from completing her goals of becoming a Dentist, she reinvented herself and continues to be a positive and motivating individual. "I am honored to serve on the board and will do my best to be a leader, role model and mentor."
